Hawkeyes Fall To Baylor

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA – The Iowa women’s tennis team fell to Baylor today; however the team competed strongly, with two singles wins in key matches.

Heading into singles play, Baylor was leading 1-0 after three wins in doubles matches. Junior Meg Racette, currently ranked #21, defeated defending NCAA Champion, #17 Zuzana Zemenova of Baylor, 6-4, 6-4, bringing the meet to a tie at 1-1.

Baylor pulled ahead with #9 Zuzana Cerna defeating #93 Mili Veselinovic, however, Hillary Mintz brought the meet to a tie again at 2-2 with her win over #80 Daniela Covello, 6-2, 6-4. Baylor then pulled ahead to win the meet with wins over Jacqueline Lee, Merel Beelen, and Krissy Dowlin.

The Hawkeyes return to action next weekend in Colorado. Iowa will face #52 Denver on Friday, February 3rd, and Colorado State on Saturday, February 4th.
