IOWA CITY – University of Iowa gymnast Michael Reavis was honored as the Big Ten Gymnast of the Week for the second time this season. The announcement came Wednesday from the Big Ten Conference office.
Reavis earned the honor after capturing the floor exercise title at the Winter Cup Challenge last week with a score of 30.2. With a sixth place all-around finish, Reavis was automatically awarded a place on the 2006 U.S. National Team. This marked the first time a Hawkeye made the team since 1996. Reavis was also honored as Gymnast of the Week on January 18, 2006.
The Hawkeyes are ranked fifth in the GymInfo rankings and open their home season on Friday against Oklahoma.
