COLUMBUS, OH – The University of Iowa women’s swimming team is in tenth place with 75 points after day two of the Big Ten Championships.
In the finals, the 200 yard freestyle relay team of Mindy Schulte, Katie Martin, Chelsea Hoff and Karen Kelly placed ninth and earned an NCAA `B’ time of 1:33.46. Senior diver Nancilea Underwood finished second in the one-meter at 322.75.
In the preliminary round of the 50 yard freestyle, three Hawkeyes finished within three-tenths of a second of a NCAA `B’ time; Mindy Schulte (23.62), Katie Martin (23.66) and Chelsea Hoff (23.67). Senior Erica Noah (4:58.13) finished just outside of the finals and an NCAA `B’ time in the 500 yard freestyle.
The Hawkeyes return to the pool tomorrow for day three of the Championships. Swimming prelims will begin at 10 a.m., with diving prelims at 12 p.m., and finals at 6 p.m. Fans can follow the action at www.ohiostatebuckeyes.com.
