Iowa To Compete Against Missouri State And Nebraska

THIS WEEK — The University of Iowa women’s tennis team will travel to Lincoln, NE for this week’s competitions. The Hawkeyes will face Missouri State, Saturday, at 10 a.m. and then Nebraska, Sunday, at 10 a.m. Competition will take place at the Woods Tennis Center.

THE HAWKEYES — The Hawkeyes are currently ranked 47th, with a 4-2 record. Individually, Meg Racette is ranked No. 21 and Mili Veselinovic No. 93 in singles. Others expected to compete for the Hawkeyes are Krissy Dowlin, Merel Beelen, Jacqueline Lee, Hillary Mintz, and Kayla Berry.

THE COMPETITION — Missouri has a 2-3 record. Senior Elizabeth Garza is ranked 100th nationally in singles competition. Nebraska has a 6-1 record and freshman Kim Hartman is ranked 36th.

LAST TIME VS. MISSOURI STATE — This will be Iowa’s first meeting with Missouri State.

LAST TIME VS. NEBRASKA — Iowa was upset by Nebraska in last year, 5-2. Hillary Mintz and Anastasia Zhukova posted the only singles wins for Iowa.

LAST MEET — The Hawkeyes were at Minnesota last weekend, facing Minnesota and Dartmouth. Iowa defeated Minnesota, 4-3, and Dartmouth, 5-2. Against Minnesota, Iowa had three victories in singles matches, and gained the doubles point. Against Dartmouth, Iowa won four singles matches and the doubles point.

HEAD COACH Daryl Greenan –Coach Greenan is in his second season as head coach for the Hawkeyes. He led the Hawkeyes to a 14-10 overall record in 2005, going 8-4 in Big Ten competition for a fourth place finish in the conference. Toni Neykova is the assistant coach and begins her fourth season with the Hawkeyes.
