THIS WEEK — The University of Iowa women’s tennis team will travel to Des Moines, IA, for this week’s competition. The Hawkeyes will face Drake, Sunday at 1 p.m. Competition will take place at the Drake Tennis Center.
THE HAWKEYES — The Hawkeyes are currently ranked 48th, with a 6-2 record. Individually, Meg Racette is ranked No. 39 in singles. Others expected to compete for the Hawkeyes are Mili Veselinovic, Krissy Dowlin, Merel Beelen, Jacqueline Lee, Hillary Mintz, and Kayla Berry.
THE COMPETITION — Drake has a 1-5 record. There are no nationally ranked players on Drake’s team.
LAST TIME VS. DRAKE — Iowa defeated Drake at home, 7-0, in 2005. Iowa leads the series 27-5.
LAST MEET — The Hawkeyes competed against Missouri State and Nebraska in Lincoln, NE, last weekend. Iowa defeated Missouri State, 7-0, and Nebraska, 4-3. Against Nebraska, Iowa had three victories in singles matches, and gained the doubles point.
HEAD COACH Daryl Greenan — Coach Greenan is in his second season as head coach for the Hawkeyes. He led the Hawkeyes to a 14-10 overall record in 2005, going 8-4 in Big Ten competition for a fourth place finish in the conference. Greenan has a 20-12 overall record in two seasons at Iowa. Toni Neykova is the assistant coach and begins her fourth season with the Hawkeyes.
