THIS WEEK — The women’s golf team opens its spring season in Rio Verde, AZ, Thursday at the Rio Verde Collegiate Invitational. The tournament is at the par-72 (6,100 yards) Rio Verde Country Club. The teams will play 18-holes Thursday, Friday and Saturday. A shotgun start is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, and 8:30 a.m Saturday.
THE COMPETITION — The 17 competing teams include: Arkansas-Little Rock, Ball State, Bowling Green, Bradley, Eastern Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Missouri State, Northwestern, Ohio, Southern Illinois, Texas Tech, Toledo, Western Michigan (host) and Xavier.

LINEUP — Competing for Iowa will be Tyrette Metzendorf, Amy Riepma, Jill Marcum, Melanie Boyles, Karla Murra and Maggie Gelber.
LAST COMPETITION —The women’s golf team finished in seventh place during its last tournament of the fall season at the 54-hole Lady Razorback Invitational. The Hawkeyes carded a 917 (+53).
LAST FALL — The Hawkeyes opened their season with a home victory at the Hawkeye Intercollegiate, carding a 922. Iowa set a new record with a 77.1 team season scoring average. Tyrette Metzendorf is in second place on Iowa’s all-time individual season scoring average, with a 75.8.
RIO VERDE INVITATIONAL HISTORY — The Hawkeyes finished second at last years Rio Verde invite, carding a 919. Iowa fired a season best 18-hole score of 297. Amy Riepma posted a career best 69 in the final round of the tournament.
HAWKEYE COACH — Coach Bobbe Carney is in her fourth year as Iowa’s head women’s golf coach. Last season, the Hawkeyes posted their best season under her guidance.
