This Week

The University of Iowa women’s gymnastics team will host Missouri, Saturday, in its last home meet of the season. Competition will take place at the UI Fieldhouse and will begin at 7 p.m.

Scouting Missouri

Missouri is ranked 12th nationally with an average score of 195.385 and a high score of 196.025. Top Tiger competitors include Adrianne Perry, Lauren Schwartzman, and Jodie Heinicka. Perry is ranked 16th in the all-around with a 39.150 average and 16th on beam with a 9.747 average. Schwartzman is ranked first on beam with a 9.885 average and Heinicka is fourth on uneven bars with a 9.872 average.

Last Time Against Missouri

This will be the first meeting between the two teams.

Last Competition

No. 34 Iowa lost to No. 21 Minnesota last weekend in Iowa City. On vault, Kortny Williamson had the best score for the Hawkeyes with a second-place 9.85. On bars, Natalie Padilla and Liz Grajewski tied for third with a 9.775. On beam, Williamson placed second, posting a score of 9.775. Liz Grajewski placed second in the all-around with a 38.9.

Head Coach Larissa Libby

Larissa Libby is in her second season as head coach for the Hawkeyes. In her first year, Libby recorded an 8-14 record. Before becoming head coach, Libby was Iowa’s associate head coach for one year and an assistant coach three seasons. While associate head coach, Libby led the GymHawks to a school record 49.425 beam performance in 2004. In addition, in 2004 the GymHawks recorded a 49.0 or higher seven times on beam under Libby’s guidance.

Next Competition

The Hawkeyes will travel to Iowa State, March 17th for their final competition of the regular season. Competition will take place at Hilton Coliseum and will begin at 7 p.m.
