The University of Iowa field hockey team has signed their final recruit for the upcoming season. Sarah Stark of Nashotah, WI, will join Meghan Beamesderfer, Tricia Dean, Kelly Hondros and Jessica Werley as the incoming class of 2006.
Stark was a four-year varsity starter for Arrowhead High School. Stark was s a three-time first-team all-conference player and helped lead her team to a state championship in 2004. A captain during her junior and senior seasons, she also led her team in goals (11 as a junior, eight as a senior) and assists (ten and 16, respectively). Stark also participated in the USFHA Futures program from 2003-2006.
“Sarah is very versatile,” said Iowa Head Coach Tracey Griesbaum. “She has excellent footwork, and is also very strong.”
The five-foot forward was also a four-year starter on her high school ice hockey team. She was a captain her junior and senior seasons, and her led squad in scoring during her sophomore and junior campaigns.
“Coming in with an ice hockey background makes her tactically very knowledgeable,” said Griesbaum. “Sarah will contribute to the team with her feisty attitude and aggressive play.”
