THIS WEEK — The University of Iowa women’s tennis team will host Michigan State, Saturday, and Michigan, Sunday. Competition will take place at the Clark Racquet Center at Coe College in Cedar Rapids at 10 a.m. both days.

THE HAWKEYES — The Hawkeyes are currently ranked 39th, with a 10-3 record, including a 2-0 mark in Big Ten play. Individually, Meg Racette is ranked No. 33 in singles. Jacqueline Lee is on an 11-match winning streak and posts a spring record of 12-1. Others expected to compete for the Hawkeyes are, Mili Veselinovic, Krissy Dowlin, Merel Beelen, Hillary Mintz, and Kayla Berry.

THE COMPETITION — Michigan State is unranked and posts a record of 10-5, with a 1-2 conference record. There are no nationally ranked players on Michigan State’s team. Michigan is ranked 27th with an 8-5 record including a 2-1 record in the Big Ten. Junior Kara Delicata is ranked 97th in singles play.

LAST TIME VS. MICHIGAN STATE — Iowa traveled to Michigan State in 2005, winning, 6-1. Meg Racette upset Keri Thompson, 6-3, 6-4.

LAST TIME VS. MICHIGAN — Iowa traveled to Michigan in 2005. The Hawkeyes were defeated, 6-1.

LAST MEET– Iowa competed at Notre Dame, and Ohio State, last week. Iowa lost to Notre Dame, 6-1, and defeated Ohio State, 4-3. Jacqueline Lee won singles matches in both competitions, and upset Kelcy Tefft of Notre Dame, 6-4, 7-5.

COACH Daryl Greenan — Coach Greenan is in his second season as head coach for the Hawkeyes. He led the Hawkeyes to a 14-10 overall record in 2005, going 8-4 in Big Ten competition for a fourth place finish in the conference. Greenan has a 24-13 overall record in two seasons at Iowa. Toni Neykova is the assistant coach and begins her fourth season with the Hawkeyes.
