Hawkeyes Race On Lake McBride

April 1, 2006

SOLON, IA – The University of Iowa rowing team competed against Creighton, Minnesota and Wisconsin this morning on Lake McBride. The Hawkeyes were on the water five times, but did not win any races.

In the first race of the day, Iowa was defeated by Minnesota in the Third Novice Four. The Hawkeyes came in second to Minnesota in the First and Second Varsity Eight races. Iowa’s novice rowers finished last in the First and Second Novice Eight races.

“This was a hard day for us,” said Head Coach Mandi Kowal. “We have a lot of work to do and this is not where we want to be. We’re going to do what we can to change the results in the future.”

The Hawkeyes will be in action again next Saturday when they travel to Princeton to race Princeton, Rutgers & Columbia.
