THIS WEEK — The Iowa men’s golf team will travel to Huntington, WV, to compete at the Marshall Invitational Friday and Saturday. The two day event is hosted by Marshall University at Guyan Golf and Country Club. The 15- team tournament field will include Marshall, Eastern Michigan, Northern Illinois, Ball State, Marquette, Ohio, Rhode Island, William & Mary, Miami (OH) Eastern Kentucky, Richmond, Bowling Green, Wright State, Akron, and Iowa. The course is a par 71 and 6,466 yards long. The tournament consists of 36 holes on Friday and the final 18 holes on Saturday. There will be an 7:30 a.m. shotgun start Friday and tee times will start at 7 a.m. Saturday. Both times listed are CDT.
LAST TIME OUT — The Iowa men’s golf team failed for only the second time in seven tournaments to place in the top five when the Hawkeyes placed seventh at the Furman Invitational. The Hawkeyes carded a three round score of 896 (+32) for the tournament.
DEBUHR EARNS CONFERENCE HONOR — Senior Brian deBuhr earned his first career Big Ten Golfer of the Week and the second by an Iowa golfer in the last three weeks. The team’s co-captain played one of the best tournaments of his career as he tied for fourth place at the Furman Invitational. The finish, which marked his career best, was also deBuhr’s first top 10 of the season. The Hawkeye posted a career-low round of 70 to open the tournament and followed with rounds of 74 and 73 to finish one-over-par for the event.
