A Thousand Words

April 5, 2006

Everyone has heard this one: A picture is worth a thousand words.

Well, 100 or so new pictures have been added to the photo gallery inside kinnickrenovation.com, the official world wide web site of the $89 million renovation of Kinnick Stadium And, while each picture isn’t necessarily worth a thousand words, collectively, they speak volumes about the progress being made at the home of the nationally ranked University of Iowa football team.

For instance, curious just what the view of the playing field looks like from the 50-yard line seats in the new outdoor club section? Well, take a look.

Curious if the work in the east concourse is catching up to that being done in the west concourse? Well, take a look…there’s also an interesting series of photographs of soon-to-be restroom space that shows how smart and efficient the architects were in mazimizing available space.

Or, curious about the progress in the west concourse, where new restrooms and new concessions stands are being constructed. Well, take a look.

And, yes, as you might guess, when completed the new press box will be an imposing sight. Among the photographs added to kinnickrenovation.com are a handful taken from a variety of locations inside the bowl of the stadium. Each offer a perspective on how the structure will affect the “horizon.” Suffice it to say that the press box will cast a very large shadow.

Also, if you didn’t get an opportunity to read the story available on hawkeyesports.com last month about the student staff of the UI Athletic Ticket Office that is on the very front line of the re-seating process, you can check that out behind the “News” link.
