BLOOMINGTON, IN – The No. 37 Iowa women’s tennis team defeated No. 35 Indiana today, 4-3. Iowa claimed the doubles point, as well as wins in three singles matches. Iowa improves their record to 15-4 overall, including 7-1 against Big Ten opponents.
In singles matches, Iowa played well, and the meet was tied, 3-3, before Mili Veselinovic’s match. Veselinovic clinched the win for Iowa, defeating Brianna Williams, 3-6, 6-2, 6-4 at the number three spot.
Other successful singles matches for Iowa were Racette, defeating Sarah Batty, 6-3, 6-1, at the number one singles spot, and Jacqueline Lee at the number four spot. Lee defeated Sigrid Fischer, 6-4, 6-0.
“We had a couple of great matches this weekend. We faced a lot of adversity and were distracted by weather concerns back in Iowa, and in addition faced adversity with our practice times late Saturday night. We had a big win over Indiana today. It was a good weekend for us with some good wins in our matches,” said Iowa Head Coach Daryl Greenan.
Iowa will continue competition April 22nd, hosting Purdue, and April 23rd, hosting Illinois.
