Bentler Leaves Hawkeyes

April 24, 2006

University of Iowa football player Ted Bentler has decided to leave the Hawkeye program and will transfer to another school. The announcement came today from Iowa Head Football Coach Kirk Ferentz.

Bentler, a 6-4, 276-pound sophomore lineman, played his high school ball at Davenport Assumption. He came to Iowa as a defensive lineman and was working with Hawkeye offensive linemen this spring. He played in seven games last year as a redshirt freshman totaling four tackles.

“We appreciate Ted’s contribution to our program,” said Ferentz. “We have granted him a release and wish him good luck in the future.”
