IOWA CITY – Former University of Iowa Field Hockey players, Sarah Dawson and Barbara Weinberg, will be competing for the USA national team August 17-27 at the AstroTurf March on Madrid Tournament.
Team USA will play their first round games on August 17-20 at the University of Maryland. They will then travel to Virginia Beach for the remaining seven days of the double round-robin tournament.
The No. 12 ranked USA team will be playing The Netherlands, Argentina, and Australia who are ranked one, two, and three in the world respectively. This marks the first time the world’s top-ranked teams have visited the United States since the 1996 Olympics.
Dawson, a midfielder, and Weinberg, a goalkeeper, played for the Hawkeyes from 2001-04. During the 2004 season, Dawson and Weinberg earned first team all-Big Ten, all-Region and all-American accolades.
