Madison, WI – The University of Iowa women’s soccer team dropped a close, 1-0 match to Wisconsin Sunday. The Badgers scored the lone goal of the match in the 74th minute.

Allison Preiss scored off a corner kick from Elise Weber for the win. Weber sent a ball into the box that found Preiss who took a shot on target. The ball deflected off a Hawkeye defender and into the back of the net.

Freshman Alexandria Seydel along with juniors Melisa Kaetterhenry and Kelsie Full each tallied a shot for the Hawkeyes. Senior goalkeeper Ali Becker pushed away four shots and played the entire 90 minutes in net.

“I thought we defended pretty well today and I was happy about how we attacked in the second half,” Head Coach Ron Rainey said. “We had some dangerous chances but couldn’t find the back of the net. We competed well today, but now we just need to improve and some of the little things for next week.”

Iowa hosts ninth-ranked Penn State Friday at 7 p.m.
