FRANKLIN, IN — The University of Iowa women’s golf team finished eighth out of 18 teams after playing 54-holes at the Shoot-out at The Legends. Iowa carded 909 on The Legends of Indiana Golf Course in Franklin, IN. Campbell University finished first with a score of 877.
Junior Jill Marcum (Clarinda, IA) led the Hawkeyes, and finished tied for 22nd. She carded 80 in the final round to finish with a 10 over par score of 226. Tyrette Metzendorf (Winter Haven, FL) posted a score of 227 (+11) to finish tied for 26th. Karla Murra (Sioux Falls, SD) tied for 35th, carding a 229 (+13). Murra’s first round score of 69 marked a personal best. Amy Riepma (Clear Lake, IA) posted a third-round low of 75, to finish tied for 49th. Melanie Boyles (Tempe, AZ) finished 58th for Iowa.
“I wish we had a stronger finish. Hopefully next week we can go out in Florida and play three good rounds to finish off the fall season,” Coach Crawford said about the finish.
The Hawkeyes play next October 16-17 at the GSU/Pelican Preserve Invitational in Fort Myers, FL.
