MINNEAPOLIS, MN – The Iowa men’s tennis team completed day two of ITA Regional competition in Minneapolis, today. The Hawkeyes competed in the remaining qualifying singles matches, and began doubles competition.
Iowa players lost all of their remaining qualifying singles matches. Mpiloenhle Migogo (ISU) defeated J.P. Ritchie, 0-6, 6-3, 6-3, while Scott Elwell was defeated by Jared Miller of Toledo, 6-0, 6-2, and Tommy McGeorge was defeated by Mikey Kantar of Minnesota, 6-4, 6-2.
In doubles competition, two of Iowa’s teams were successful in their matches. Dwyer/Grimes defeated Low/Raynauld of Butler, 8-5, while Holm/McGeorge defeated Newmark/West, also of Butler, 8-4. Iowa’s 15th-seeded duo of Ritchie/van monsjou was upset by Al Nahbhani/Miller of Toledo, 9-8.
Iowa will continue doubles competition tomorrow at the Baseline Tennis Center in Minneapolis.
