IOWA CITY — Come one. Come all. But, whatever you do, come in costume!

The University of Iowa men’s basketball team will stage its annual Halloween Hoops event Sunday at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.

Fans of the Hawekyes are reminded that the annual Black and Gold Basketball Blowout will be staged Saturday in the Arena 30 minutes after the conclusion of the Iowa-Northern Illinois football game.

Young and old fans of Coach Steve Alford’s Iowa Hawkeyes are invited to wear their Halloween costume to this special open practice of the 2006-07 squad. The west entrance to Carver-Hawkeye will open at 5:30 p.m.

Fans in attendance will receive candy, tours of the Hawkeyes’ lockerroom and training facilities, and a chance to secure autographs and photographs of their favorite Hawkeye. All youngsters attending will receive a coupon good for free admission to select home games of the Hawkeyes in December and a randomly selected few will receive four tickets to Iowa’s game against intrastate rival Iowa State or in-state foe Northern Iowa.

Best of all? It’s another chance for the young ghosts and goblin-like basketball fans to wear their costume.
