Brooks Visits with Christensen inside Hawkeye All-Access

Nov. 2, 2006

IOWA CITY — Bob Brooks visits with last week’s front page news story, red-shirt freshman quarterback Jake Christensen, in the latest installment of “The Brooks Brothers” available now inside Hawkeye All-Access , the multi-media area of hawkesports.com.

Brooks’ visit with Christensen can be found on the “Features” page inside the “Football” area of Hawkeye All-Access.

Kirk Ferentz expects Christensen to spend more time on the sideline that on the playing field this week. Iowa’s head coach said Tuesday that he expects senior Drew Tate to be back under center this Saturday when the Hawkeyes entertain Big Ten Conference rival Northwestern at 11 a.m. (Iowa time) at Kinnick Stadium.

That decision has more to do with Drew Tate than Jake Christensen. The rookie played superbly in guiding Iowa to a 24-14 victory over Northern Illinois last weekend. However, event he admits the 2006 Hawkeyes are Drew Tate’s team to direct.

“I’ll be ready to play if necessary. You always prepare as if you’re going to play. But if Drew is ready to go, he’s the guy. This is his team,” said Christensen.
