IOWA CITY – The 2006-07 regular season opener for Coach Steve Alford’s Iowa Hawkeyes is just nine day away. To help fans of the Hawkeyes prepare for another season of college baksetball, Hawkeye style, hawkeyesports.com will provide a handful of answers to the question “Did you know this about the Iowa Hawkeyes?” over the coming week.

Iowa plays its only public exhibition game Friday, Nov. 10, at 7 p.m. against Buena Vista. Fans of the Iowa football team in Iowa City that night in anticipation of the Iowa-Wisconsin football game the following day can attend the basketball game for free by presenting their football game ticket at any entrance of Carver-Hawkeye Arena.

The Hawkeyes enter the 2006-07 season with an 18-game winning streak in Carver-Hawkeye Arena after posting a perfect 17-0 record a year ago. The home winning streak ranks third longest in the nation.

The Hawkeyes’ 2006-07 season opener is against The Citadel on Monday, Nov. 13. In celebration of Veterans Day, the UI Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is inviting all military personnel – active, inactive and retired – to attend that game for free.
