Iowa Coach Kirk Ferentz:

(On Tyler Donovan) You’ve got to give him a lot of credit for going on the road and operating the way he did.

It’s fair to say we just haven’t played consistently in any area all year, especially on offense.

It looked a little bit more like us, we played tough up front, and they try to wear on you, but we did a good job fighting back.

What we need to worry about right now is the next two ballgames so people can look back and say we finished the right way.

Wisconsin Coach Brett Bielema:

‘We told Tyler from Sunday on that the team was in his hands and he prepared to be the number one quarterback all week. He went out and executed today. His play today spoke volumes of what he was all about and what our defense was able to do in a very hostile environment.

We talked about before the game that this could be the greatest statement of the season for our team thus far and it would be a complete effort ‘ offense, defense and special teams and with guys stepping up into their roles.

This is an environment that I grew up in and it’s fun to come back and visit, but it’s also great walking off of that field knowing you have a W.

We had an understanding of what they would try to do defensively but Tyler has been able to be very accurate in certain situations and we thought their schemes were going to be there today and they were.’

Iowa Player Quotes

Andy Fenstermaker
‘It’s bittersweet. It’s been a great journey, walking on and then moving up to the starting position. I’ve been playing with a greatbunch of guys, great coaches. You can’t beat the experience here.

I’ve got no complaints.

It was a little emotional, the last time out on Kinnick.Unfortunately it didn’t end the way we wanted but there’s memories I’ll never forget. Once you’re a Hawkeye, you’re always a Hawkeye.’

Scott Chandler
We played tough and we played hard we just didn’t make the plays when we needed to at the end of the game. It’s disappointing. There are those plays we need to make and we didn’t make them.

You’d like to make all the plays that are out there on your senior day, I didn’t. You just have to move on.’

Marcus Paschal
It was real disappointing but they made the plays when they had to and we didn’t. I think we worked hard today and played real hard, we just have to make another step next week.

I can’t believe I’m here already. I feel like I just got on campus.

Kyle Schlicher
Senior day is emotional every year. I’ve had four times to experience it, so I was kind of prepared; I knew what was going to happen. But, it was hard seeing my family out there, seeing them emotional. It was hard seeing the looks on the other seniors’ faces.

I remember looking back when I was a freshmen thinking ‘Man, I have four years left of this stuff’ because it’s really hard, making the transition. Now looking back it’s just a blur and I can say that I’m really going to miss it, I made the best of it and I think we all wish we could have had a better ending here in Kinnick and a better senior season.

Mitch King

On the passionate defensive game:
‘It’s up there, if not the most. Ohio State was up there, we were flying around, we were really into that game. This game we had a lot on the line, we knew we needed to show what Iowa defense was all about and we tried going out there and doing it. We just made a few mistakes.’
