Hawkeyes Defeated At Big Ten Singles

ANN ARBOR, MI– The University of Iowa men’s tennis team ended competition in the Big Ten Singles Championship Sunday. Sophomore Christian Bierich was the only Hawkeye in competition. He was defeated in the semifinal round of the consolation bracket.

Bierich took down G. Hodgson of Wisconsin in the round of 16 (6-4, 6-4). In the quarterfinal round, he defeated J. Dwyer of Penn State (5-7, 7-6 (3), 6-0). Bierich fell to M. Dierberger of Wisconsin on a walkover in the semifinal round.

This tournament marked the end of Iowa’s fall season. The Hawkeyes will begin the spring season January 28 by hosting Northern Illinois.
