Hawkeyes Sign Three Recruits

IOWA CITY, IA – The Iowa women’s gymnastics program has signed Kristen Ward, Houry Gebeshian, and Arielle Sucich to National Letters of Intent. The three will enroll at the University of Iowa next fall. Iowa has also gained a transfer student, Brittany Logan, who will join the Hawkeyes in January.

Ward, a native of Fort Wayne, IN, currently competes for Set-10 Gymnastics. She is a seven-time Region V qualifier, and placed third on vault and sixth on floor at the 2006 Region V Championships. Ward was the 2004 Indiana state champion on floor exercise, and is a member of the National Honor Society.

Gebeshian is a two-time national competitor from Auburndale, MA, and placed 16th in the all-around at the 2006 National Championships. She placed first on bars and third in the all-around at the 2006 Region VI Championships. In addition, Gebeshian placed first on bars and second in the 2006 state all-around competition. She currently competes for the Massachusetts Gymnastics Center.

Sucich is from Fort Salonga, NY, and currently competes for New Image Gymnastics. Sucich placed third on beam and all-around in the 2004 New York State High School Championships. She also qualified for regional championships in 2005, placing fourth in the all-around, and went on to finish 39th in the all-around at the 2005 National Championships.

Logan, a transfer from University of Central Michigan, will enroll at Iowa for the 2007 spring semester as a sophomore, and will compete with the GymHawks during the 2007 season. Logan, from Edmonton, Alberta, competed for the Ortona Gymnastics Club before attending Central Michigan. She placed second on bars in the 2005 Go for It Classic, and was a member of Team Alberta for the Western Championships in 2004 and 2005. Logan was also a 2003 competitor in the Western Canada Summer Games and placed first in the all-around.
