IOWA CITY, IA – The Iowa women’s tennis team has signed Lynne Poggensee-Wei and Jessica Young to National Letters of Intent. The two will enroll at the University of Iowa next fall.

Poggensee-Wei, a native of Lake Villa, IL, is currently ranked 40th nationally by tennisrecruiting.net. She is also ranked second in the Great Lakes Region and first in the state of Illinois.

“Lynne is a very talented player with a lot of tournament experience. I am happy she chose Iowa and I think we are a great fit for her,” said Iowa Head Coach Daryl Greenan.

Young is from Bloomfield, MI, and currently attends Birmingham Seaholm High School. She is ranked among the top 110 nationally, 11th in the Great Lakes Region, and third in the state of Michigan.

“Jessica is a great competitor who has only begun to see her potential. I think she is going to get a lot better in the next couple years and will be a key player in our success here at Iowa,” said Greenan.

“I am thrilled that Jessica and Lynne will become Hawkeyes. I expect both to make an immediate impact on our program and I look forward to working with them.”
