CHICAGO, IL – The University of Iowa Men’s Gymnastics team placed fifth (six teams) at the Windy City Invitational yesterday, hosted by the University of Illinois-Chicago. The Hawkeyes scored a team total of 198.400, while Michigan won the meet with 212.750 total team points.
Junior Curtis Kleffman placed fourth (49.500), and freshman Jonathan Buese tied for seventh (47.700) in the all-around competition. Geoff Reins tied for third on floor exercise with a 9.2, while Drew Ignoto finished fourth on the pommel horse, scoring 8.85. Jacques Bouchard scored a 9.0 on the rings for a seventh place finish, while Buese scored an 8.65 to tie at 14th. On vault, Buese finished eighth (8.55), Kleffman finished tenth (8.45), Reins placed 11th (8.4), and Jake Becker scored an 8.35 for a 12th place finish.
Iowa will be back in Chicago January 21 to compete against the University of Illinois-Chicago. Competition will begin at 7:00 p.m.
