Hey Hawkeyes! We need your help with getting out the vote.

Senior guard Adam Haluska – the Big Ten Conference’s regular season scoring champion and a the Academic All-America of the Year in men’s college basketball – is one of 10 finalists for the Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award.

The Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award is presented annually to the NCAA Division I student-athlete who, based on personal qualities and characteristics, defines what it means to be a complete student-athlete. The honoree typically excels in the classroom displays tremendous character and is a leader in the community. The student-athlete also is a leader on the basketball floor.

In addition to leading Iowa to a fourth-place finish in the 2007 Big Ten Conference regular season, the Carroll, Iowa native was honored for his success in the classroom at the UI Department of Intercollegiate Athletics’ recent Presidential Committee on Athletics Academic Honors Banquet.

“I’m proud of what I’ve accomplished both academically and athletically at the University of Iowa,” Haluska said at that event. “It’s been an honor to represent this institution and its fans in competition and to have the opportunity to continue my education.”

The greater emphasis on the off-court of the achievements of the student-athlete reflects Lowe’s commitment to helping young people build successful careers and encouraging students to use their skills to make an impact in life.
