THIS WEEK — The Iowa men’s gymnastics team travels to Stanford, CA, to compete in a triangular meet against Stanford and Penn State, on Saturday. Competition is scheduled to begin at 9 p.m. (CST) at Burnham Pavilion. Iowa’s former athletic director, Bob Bowlsby is currently Stanford’s athletic director.

LAST TIME OUT — Despite scoring a team season best score of 209.5 last week at Illinois, the ninth-ranked Hawkeyes fell to the sixth-ranked Fighting Illini, 214.95-209.5. Iowa placed first on three events. On pommel horse, Jacob Becker took first, scoring 9.15, on vault, Geoff Reins finished first (9.35) and Jonathan Buese was first in the all-around, recording a season high, 50.95, in the event. Bouchard’s third place finish on rings (9.55) also marked a season best score.

LAST YEAR AGAINST STANFORD — Iowa faced Stanford once in the regular season, at the seven-team, Pacific Coast Classic in Oakland, CA. Iowa posted a 207.2, to finish fifth, and Stanford finished second, with a 216.075.

LAST YEAR AGAINST PENN STATE — Iowa faced Penn State at the Big Ten Championships in Iowa City. Iowa placed third (213.75) and Penn State placed fifth (210.25) in the six-team competition.

SERIES RESULTS AGAINST STANFORD — Iowa is 1-1 all-time, against Stanford.

SERIES RESULTS AGAINST PENN STATE — Iowa is 4-7-1 all-time, against Penn State.

IOWA’S RECORD — Iowa has a 3-7 record this season.

HEAD COACH Tom Dunn — In his 28th year at Iowa, Head Coach Tom Dunn, has recorded a 213-101-2 record at Iowa. In 1998 and 2006, Dunn was named Big Ten Coach of the Year and College Gymnastics Association Central Region Coach of the Year. He has led the Hawkeyes to 17 top-10 finishes at the NCAA Championships. Iowa has competed at the NCAA meet 17 of the past 22 seasons. Dunn has also coached 32 individuals to 64 all-America honors and 20 gymnasts to 32 Big Ten titles.

NEXT COMPETITION — The Hawkeyes travel to Oklahoma to compete against the Sooners in Norman, OK, at 7 p.m.
