THIS WEEK — The University of Iowa men’s golf team will travel to Greenville, SC, to compete in the 38th annual Furman Intercollegiate Friday through Sunday. Play will consist of 18 holes each day with 7 a.m.(CDT) tee times.

COURSE INFORMATION— Competition will be held on the par-72, 6,800-yard Furman University Golf Course. The 170-acre course was designed by Richard K. Webel and has hosted golf legends such as Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Curtis Strange, Jay Haas, and Billy Andrade. Current PGA star Brad Faxon `83 holds the course record with a 62.

PARTICIPATING TEAMS— In addition to Iowa, 19 teams will be competing this weekend. Maryland finished first in the 2006 tournament and will also be participating this year. Last year’s third place team, Samford, will also be competing this year.

LAST TIME OUT — The Hawkeyes defeated Stetson in an 18-hole dual meet last Wednesday. Iowa scored 300 to beat Stetson by 10 strokes. Senior Jon Feldick led the individual results by posting a 73. Sophomore Zack Anderson carded a 75 to finish tied for second. Juniors Adam Miller and Dan Holterhaus tied for fourth place with scores of 76. Junior Scot Glasford tied for seventh place with a score of 78. Senior Bennet Hammerberg carded an 80 to finish ninth.

HEAD COACH Terry Anderson — Anderson is in his 14th year as Iowa’s head coach. Anderson was a four-year letterman at Iowa State. He also serves as the Director of Golf at Iowa’s Finkbine Golf Course. He was named the PGA Golf Professional of the Year for the Iowa PGA Section in 1998 and 2004. Anderson is assisted by Adam Kaufman.
