IOWA CITY – University of Iowa senior basketball player Adam Haluska will be involved in two events in conjunction with the NCAA men’s Final Four in Atlanta, GA.
Haluska is one of eight players who will compete Thursday, March 29 in the 19th annual State Farm Slam Dunk & Three Point shooting contest. Haluska will aksi compete in the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) DiGiorno All-Star game Friday, March 30.
The three-point contest will be held at Georgia State University in Atlanta and takes place at 6 p.m. CT. The competition also includes a women’s three-point contest and a men’s slam dunk contest. The event will be televised on ESPN and will be replayed several additional times throughout the weekend.
The NABC all-star game is 6:30 p.m. CT and is held at Phillips Arena, home of the Atlanta Hawks.
“I’m excited to be involved in both of the activities,” said Haluska. “It’s an honor to be one of the few senior players in the nation invited. It’s nice to be recognized and it’s a great opportunity to represent the University of Iowa. It should be fun.”
Haluska earned first team all-Big Ten honors this season. The native of Carroll, IA is also a first team academic all-American and was named the Academic all-American of the Year for Division I men’s basketball.
Haluska led the Big Ten Conference in scoring, averaging 20.5 points in all games and 21.3 in league games. He started all 98 games at Iowa over the past three seasons and ranks seventh in career scoring with 1,578 points. He is Iowa’s scoring leader among those who played just three seasons.
Haluska is also one of 10 finalists for the Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award and he is one of 30 remaining candidates for the Naismith Award.
A year ago, Jeff Horner competed in the three-point contest and Greg Brunner competed in the NABC all-star game at the Final Four in Indianapolis.
