Associate Head Coach Jan Jensen was one of the honorees Wednesday night in Iowa City at the United Way of Johnson County’s “Celebration of Community”. Jensen was recognized as the United Way of Johnson County Volunteer of the Year for her leadership of the Emerging Philanthropists Society and the Healthy Kids School-based Clinics Initiative.
The “Healthy Kids” initiative supports free health clinics for children whose families can not afford health care. “Healthy Kids” school-based clinics are in partnership with the Iowa City Community School District and the UI College of Nursing, UI College of Dentistry, UI College of Medicine, and UI Hospitals and Clinics.
For the third consecutive year, the United Way of Johnson County increased its fundraising total. The 2006 campaign totaled over $2 million, with a 9 percent increase in donations and a 9.7 percent increase in the number of donors.
