Hawkeyes Compete At Big Ten Championships

MINNEAPOLIS, MN – The University of Iowa Men’s Gymnastics team competed in the 2007 Big Ten Championships Friday night at the University of Minnesota. The Hawkeyes finished sixth with a score of 210.0.

The outing was highlighted by Jacques Bouchard’s first place performance on rings. There was a five-way tie for first and his score of 9.65 broke the Iowa record on the event, which he previously set this year (against Stanford and Illinois). Matt Beiler also set a personal best record on rings, 9.55, to finish tied for sixth. The strong performances led Iowa to finish with a 37.25 on rings, their best event of the night.

Jacob Becker finished third on pommel horse, scoring an 8.85. Curtis Kleffman placed 10th in the event, posting an 8.55.

The Individual Event championships will be held tomorrow night beginning at 7 p.m. in the Sports pavilion in Minneapolis, MN. Live stats are available gophersports.com.
