THIS WEEK — The Iowa women’s golf team travels to Carmel, IN, to compete at the 54-hole Indiana Invitational, April 9-10. The meet is hosted by Indiana University at the par-72 Crooked Stick Golf Course. The teams will play 36-holes Monday and 18-holes Tuesday. There will be an 7:30 a.m. shotgun start Monday and 8 a.m. shotgun start Tuesday. Both times listed are central.

THE COMPETITION — The 17 competing teams include: Indiana, Michigan, Michigan State, Western Michigan, UNLV, Oregon, Penn State, Illinois, Illinois State, Iowa, Iowa State, Notre Dame, Minnesota, Ball State, Northwestern, Kentucky and Texas.

LINEUP — The lineup for the Hawkeyes will be Melanie Boyles, Jill Marcum, Tyrette Metzendorf, Karla Murra and Amy Riepma.

LAST TIME OUT — At the Anteater Invitational, Iowa finished eighth (15 teams). The Hawkeyes posted a score of 971 after 54-holes in Coto de Caza, CA. Marcum led Iowa, finishing 14th. She posted a 237.

LEADING THE HAWKEYES — Junior Jill Marcum has led the Hawkeyes in two of three tournaments this spring. She ranks first in team scoring average (234). She posted a low round of 70 at the first tournament of the spring (UNLV).

QUOTING HEAD COACH Kelly Crawford — “We have two more tournaments before the Conference Championship the end of the month. We really need to take advantage of these competitions and continue to work on our skills. Each event is one step closer to, what I plan to be, a strong performance at Big Tens.”

NEXT COMPETITION — Iowa competes at the Lady Buckeye Invitational, April 26-27.
