May 3, 2007

IOWA CITY — University of Iowa sophomore Rafael Eubanks has been named to the preseason watch list for the 2007 Rimington Trophy, which recognizes the most outstanding center in college football.

A total of 46 players are named to the list, only five of which are sophomores.

Dave Rimington, the award’s namesake, was a consensus first team All-America center at Nebraska in 1981 and 1982, during which he became the John Outland Trophy’s only double winner as the nation’s premiere college interior lineman.

Eubanks started nine games at center last season. The native of St, Paul, MN, was named first team Freshman All-American by scout.com, second-team Freshman all-American by rivals.com and third team Freshman all-American by The Sporting News.
