IOWA CITY — Four Hawkeyes have posted strong performances at several national and international swimming meets this summer. Seniors Dragos Agache, Andrej Lenert and Nathan Keeling, and sophomore Wil Whaley are all members of the University of Iowa swimming team.
Agache won the 50-meter breast (29.03) and placed third in the 100-meter breast (1:03.14) at the Romanian Long Course National Championships in July in Bucharest.
Lenert placed 12th in the 200-meter back (2:09.86) at the Canadian Nationals in Montreal in July. He also placed 20th in the 100-meter back (1:00.23) and 25th in the 50-meter back (28.91) at the meet.
Keeling and Whaley both competed at the ConocoPhillips USA Swimming National Championships in Indianapolis, IN, earlier this week. Whaley placed 26th in the 200-meter back (2:04.65) and will swim in the 100-meter backstroke Friday. Keeling placed 74th (2:05.94) in the 200-meter fly and 107th (57.25) in the 100-meter fly.
