Iowa Men's Tennis Team Honored

Sept. 18, 2007

IOWA CITY , IA –

The University of Iowa men’s tennis team has been named an ITA Academic All-America team.

The Hawkeyes were one of 39 teams (out of 260) to qualify for the honor. Selection requires a team GPA of 3.2 or above.

In addition, five team members (half of the team) were named ITA Scholar Athletes. Such recognition requires a minimum 3.5 GPA and the Hawkeyes led the Big Ten Conference in that department. Those selected were former Hawkeye Scott Elwell and current members Reinoud Haal, Greg Holm, Mat Sawin, and Bart van Monsjou.

“We’ve had a long tradition of academic excellence and I’m very proud of our guys,” added Coach Steve Houghton.
