Head Coach Lisa Bluder Quotes
“I think this was a very good opening game. We really tried to concentrate on defense and are happy with only giving up 43 points and only 28% from the field. We forced them into a lot of turnovers and those turnovers turned into 28 points for us.

Last year we just didn’t have the depth and it takes a lot of work and energy to play defense. With 10 people this year we are going to be able to do that with more confidence. The team is reminded on how poor we were at defense last year and are trying to make it strength for this year.

Obviously we weren’t happy with our rebounding. We gave up 20 offensive rebounds to them, which is something we are going to have to work on. But it is pretty amazing that they only turned into nine points. They had a lot of long shots which were long rebounds over our heads and that helped us reestablish our defense.”

“Twenty-two assists on 25 baskets is an amazing statistic. We obviously found the open person; we moved the ball extremely well and I am happy about that unselfish play.”

Junior Wendy Ausdemore
“Our defensive mentality is completely different this season. We are trying to get out into the passing lane and be more physical with it. Defense is all about heart and I think we are giving it out there.”

Senior Krista VandeVenter
“I’ve had so much time to work on my shot, and have been taking advantage of that. They have been telling me to be more aggressive with my shot, especially against a team like this where we had such a big height advantage.”
