Hawkeyes Earn Conference Honors

Dec. 12, 2007

PARK RIDGE, IL — The Big Ten Conference recently named eight University of Iowa women’s cross country student-athletes to the 2007 fall academic all-conference team. The Hawkeye honorees set a school record for most academic all-Big Ten women’s cross country members in a season. The previous best was seven set in 1992.

Sophomores Jolly Burke and Katie Ellis are part of an elite group of 15 student-athletes across all league fall sports to maintain unblemished 4.0 GPAs.

Iowa posted a total of 51 conference academic honorees in the fall. To be eligible for an academic all-Big Ten selection, student-athletes must be letterwinners and be in at least their second academic year at the institution. They must also carry a career grade point average of 3.0 or better.
