FanFest 2008: A Great Schedule

Feb. 8, 2008

IOWA CITY — Former Iowa Hawkeyes who are now in the NFL, an opportunity to “hear it firsthand” from the coaching staff, and the chance to visit with current members of the UI football program are just a handful of the activities available to participants in FanFest 2008, the annual celebration of and inside look at football at the University of Iowa to be held this weekend at the Sheraton Hotel in Downtown Iowa City.

Fans of the Iowa Hawkeyes have until Wednesday at 5 p.m. to register to participate in this year’s FanFest. For information call 1-800 844-2957.

The two-day schedule of events for participants in FanFest includes NFL Player Panel, the kickoff event scheduled for Friday (Feb. 8) at 7 p.m. The panel discussion will include current Miami Dolphin Matt Roth and NFL All-Pro placekicker Nate Kaeding, and will be moderated by John Campbell, sports director at KCRG-TV9 in Cedar Rapids.

Friday night’s other activities include a live auction of Hawkeye souvenirs and memorabilia and a night of HAWK-I bingo.

Saturday’s schedule kicks off with breakfast and a “Chalk Talk” by UI Head Coach Kirk Ferentz. UI coaches Reese Morgan, Rick Kaczenski, Ken O’Keefe and Chris Doyle will also share their expertise during a day that also includes a visit to the UI’s Indoor Practice Facility – the “Bubble” – for an autograph session with many of the 2008 Iowa Hawkeyes and a visit to historic Kinnick Stadium, the Hawkeyes’ game day lockeroom and the infamous visiting team lockerroom.

Saturday’s schedule concludes with a panel discussion featuring Matt Kroul, Mitch King, Seth Olsen, Bradley Fletcher and Andy Brodell hosted by Rob Brooks of the Hawkeye Radio Network.

It’s not too late to register to be a participant in FanFest 2008. Fans can do so by calling Terry Armstrong at 1-800 844-2957. Registration closes Wednesday at 5 p.m.
