LINCOLN, NE – The No. 72 Iowa men’s tennis team fell to No. 66 Denver on Saturday, 5-2.
The Hawkeyes claimed two singles victories on the afternoon. In No. 3 singles competition, junior Christian Bierich defeated David Simson 7-6, 6-2. Additionally in No. 4 singles competition, Reinoud Haal defeated Andrew Landwerlen 6-7, 6-4, 10-5. Iowa claimed one doubles match as Reinoud Haal and Greg Holm teamed up to defeat Althaus/Landwerlen 8-6.
After defeating No. 61 Nebraska on Friday, Head Coach Steve Houghton was pleased with the overall results of the weekend. “We played well in both matches. We have continued to improve each week.”
With the loss to Denver, the Hawkeyes fell to 3-1 (1-0 Big Ten) overall. Iowa will return to action Saturday, Feb. 16 at home against Toledo.
