Hawkeyes Host Breast Cancer Awareness Meet Friday

IOWA CITY – The University of Iowa women’s gymnastics team will close its 2008 home season hosting Iowa State Friday in the “Pink Meet.” The meet is designed to raise awareness for Breast Cancer and will take place at Carver-Hawkeye Arena at 7 p.m. Holden Cancer Center will be on hand to accept any donations given to help the cause. The meet will also honor Hawkeye Seniors Katie Burke, Amanda Rudolph and Ally Zipse.

Doors will open at 6 p.m. and the first 200 fans in attendance will receive a pink “Beat State” t-shirt. Prior to the meet, fans will have the chance to enter raffle contests, while young fans will be able to participate in the Kids Fun Zone which will include Hawkeye tattoos and other activities.

Iowa is ranked 19th-nationally and third in the Big Ten with an 8-4-1 record. The Hawkeyes will wrap-up regular season competition at Southern Utah, March 14.
