ROCK HILL, S.C. – The University of Iowa women’s golf team slipped one spot Saturday to end the day in fifth place, after starting the tournament tied for fourth Friday. Remaining in the lead is Charleston Southern, who paces the field at the Shamrock Intercollegiate with a score of 618.
Junior Tyrette Metzendorf is in sole possession of 10th place with a two-round score of 156, while teammates Jill Marcum and Becky Quinby remain close behind, with scores of 157 and 158, respectively. Senior Melanie Boyles is tied for 31st place (165) and sophomore Alison Cavanaugh is tied for 38th place (167).
Four Hawkeye freshmen are also making good impressions as they compete as individuals. Brianna Coopman, who finished Friday tied for third place overall, is tied for 11th place (157). Iowa City native Laura Cilek is tied for 38th place (167), Amanda Stahl is tied for 42nd place (169), and Lauren Forbes is tied for 58th place (176).
The Shamrock Intercollegiate will conclude Sunday with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
