COLUMBUS, OH – The University of Iowa men’s golf team finished competition at the Robert Kepler Intercollegiate Sunday. The Hawkeyes finished 11th in the 14-team field, with a 54-hole score of 932 (+80). Colorado won the event with a 900 (+48).
Junior Cole Peevler continued his excellent play for Iowa, firing an even-par 71. He finished tied for second overall with a 222 (+9). It is the highest a Hawkeye has finished as an individual since Peevler finished second at the Wolverine Invite in November of 2007.
Senior Todd Larson shot a 78 (+7) Sunday to tie for 32nd with a 232 (+19). Freshman Vince India posted a 78 and senior Dan Holterhaus recorded a 74 (+3) Sunday. The two tied for 53rd with scores of 239 (+26). In addition, freshman James Reiss finished the first tournament of his career with an 82 (+11). He finished 74th with a 252 (+39).
“I got off to a great start and was feeling really good about my game,” said Cole Peevler. “I tried to make a run for the lead and stayed strong throughout. I am very excited to compete at the Purdue Invitational and feel our team will excel.”
The Hawkeyes will compete at the Boilermaker Invitational April 19-20.
