Hawkeyes To Travel to Columbus, OH

THIS WEEK
The University of Iowa women’s golf team travels to Columbus, OH, this weekend to participate in the 28th annual Lady Buckeye Invitational. The Hawkeyes participated in the event last year, finishing fifth.

THE COMPETITION
Eleven other teams are scheduled to join the Hawkeyes in Columbus including: Eastern Michigan, Illinois, Kent State, Michigan State, Minnesota, Nebraska, Northwestern, Ohio State, Penn State, Toledo and Wisconsin.

The Invitational will be played at Ohio State’s Scarlet Course.

LINEUP
Head Coach Kelly Crawford’s lineup remains the same: seniors Melanie Boyles and Jill Marcum, juniors Tyrette Metzendorf and Becky Quinby, and freshmen Laura Cilek and Brianna Coopman.

LAST COMPETITION
Last week, the Hawkeyes finished 10th at the Indiana Invitational out of 15 teams. Purdue won the tournament by 42 strokes. Metzendorf finished tied for 13th place, claiming her seventh top 20 finish of the year. The Winter Haven, FL, native ranks 111th in the country in scoring average (75.2).

Marcum and Quinby also cracked the individual top 50, finishing tied for 46th and tied for 50th, respectively.
