COLUMBUS, OH – The University of Iowa women’s golf team struggled through the first two rounds of the Lady Buckeye Invitational Saturday, finishing in 10th place after 36 holes. No. 13 Kent State leads the tournament with a 10 stroke lead over second-place Ohio State.
Senior Melanie Boyles (+13, 157) led the Hawkeyes with a resurgent performance Saturday, ending the day tied in 20th place with teammate Tyrette Metzendorf (+13, 157). Junior Becky Quinby also put forth a solid performance, ending the day tied for 35th place (+17, 161).
Senior Jill Marcum ended the day tied for 55th place (+22, 166). Iowa’s pair of freshmen, Laura Cilek (+21, 165) and Brianna Coopman (+41, 185), finished the day tied for 50th and in 72nd place, respectively.
The Invitational wraps up Sunday with 18 holes on Ohio State’s Scarlet Course. Play is set to begin with an 8:30 a.m. (EST) shotgun start as the Hawkeyes look to gain some ground and move up the leaderboard.
