Iowa Heads To Big Ten Championships

THIS WEEK — The University of Iowa men’s golf team will travel to East Lansing, MI, this weekend to compete in the 2008 Big Ten Championships. Teams will begin the first round Friday morning and will play round two that afternoon. The third round of competition will begin Saturday morning. Final round action will be played Sunday.

FOREST AKERS — Forest Akers West Course is the site of the 2008 Big Ten Chamionships. The West Course is the home course of the Michigan State Spartans.

BIG TEN CHAMPIONSHIPS — Michigan State is the defending Big Ten champions. The 2007 squad was coached by current Iowa Head Coach Mark Hankins. Hankins coached at Michigan State for seven years and won two Big Ten titles.

LAST MEET — The Hawkeyes finished 10th at the Boilermaker Invitational in West Lafayette, IN. Freshman Vince India shined, finishing sixth individually. He posted scores of 68-72-71 and finished with a 54-hole score of 211 (-5). Junior Cole Peevler tied for 40th, posting a 220 (+4). Todd Larson posted a 221 (+5) to tie for 46th and Dan Holterhaus recorded a 223 (+7) to tie for 54th. Additionally, Adam Miller tied for 65th with a 230 (+14).
