Hawkeye Soccer Adds One To 2008 Class

April 30, 2008

IOWA CITY, IA – With nine newcomers already slated to join the Hawkeyes in 2008, University of Iowa soccer Head Coach Ron Rainey decided it couldn’t hurt to add another. Rachel Blakesley, a forward/midfielder from Peoria, Ill., will join up with the Hawkeyes this fall.

Blakesley attended Peoria’s Notre Dame High School and led her team to three straight conference championships and two State Elite Eight appearances, while helping the team to a 61-14-3 record from 2004-2007. She was a three-time all-Conference and all-Area selection and has scored 49 goals and 27 assists during her high school career.

Blakesley becomes the tenth Hawkeye pledge in the 2008 recruiting class, joining Allison Bellmer, Alyssa Cosnek, Sarah Langlas, Suzy Levett, Emily Moran, Kim Olsen, Kelsey Sandon, Morgan Showalter and Gabrielle Tinner.
