IOWA CITY, Iowa — The numbers 31 and 32 play a prominent role in the history of the University of Iowa football program. Some former Hawkeye greats who donned the No. 31 jersey include Joe Hufford, John Derby, Ronnie Harmon and most recently, Matt Roth. Famous No. 32’s include James Erb and Mike Saunders.
Now the UI is leaning on its phenomenal fan base to make the numbers 31 and 32 a reality in another area during the 2008 season — as in the 31st and 32nd consecutive sellouts of Kinnick Stadium. Four of Iowa’s seven home games in have been announced as sellouts. Tickets remain available for the Hawkeyes’ season opener Aug. 30 against Maine, their date with Florida International the following weekend, and the regular season finale against Big Ten Conference rival Purdue. Discount-priced youth tickets are also available for the Maine and Florida International games. To purchase tickets online click HERE or call the UI Athletics Ticket Office at 1-800 IA-HAWKS.
Iowa will hold its annual Kid’s Day tomorrow, Aug. 16, from noon until 2 p.m. inside Kinnick Stadium. There is no admission charge. The Hawkeyes completed preseason practice No. 15 on Friday morning, leaving them with 14 practices before the season-opener against the Black Bears.
