IOWA CITY, IA – The University of Iowa field hockey team lost to Big Ten foe Ohio State Sunday, 2-0. The eighth-ranked Hawkeyes are now 11-4 overall and 2-2 in Big Ten Conference play on the season.
The first half was a defensive battle until Ohio State took a 1-0 advantage in the 29th minute. Emily Mikac found Rachel Hunter, who scored for the Buckeyes on a breakaway.
The Hawkeyes applied pressure in the last few minutes of play but were unable to muster a score in the second half.
Ohio State added a goal in the last minute of play to push the score to 2-0.
Iowa travels to Michigan State Saturday. The Hawkeyes will battle the fourth-ranked Spartans at noon (CT). The game can be seen on the Big Ten Network as a same-day delay at 4 p.m. (CT).
