Iowa Head Coach Lisa Bluder

On today’s game
“We’re really glad to keep the trophy home this year. We’re really appreciative of the opportunity to have the tournament here and for the support of KCRG for sponsoring this event. It’s very nice to have the win. I liked the balanced scoring we had today.”

On Kachine Alexander
“I think if anyone would have guessed who our leading scorer would have been at the beginning of the year, I don’t think they’d have guessed Kachine, so it is really nice to see her with 15 points as our leading scorer and leading rebounder today. I thought she did a great job penetrating and getting to the hoop and free throw line. I liked the balanced scoring we had and I thought our defense was pretty good today.”

“We talk a lot about patience and trying to draw fouls. Not only by using the clock do I think you’ll eventually get a good shot, but you’ll also get to the free throw line. We got to the free throw line 21 times to their 7. That’s part of what we are trying to accomplish because we are such a good free throw shooting team that we need to get there more often this year and I think we accomplished that today.”

Sophomore Kachine Alexander

On scoring
“I think I am a lot more confident this year in my shot and I think that brings more opportunities for me. To score, I don’t have to just drive. The coaches have put a lot of confidence in me and that has helped.”
